Scenic Spain – Tours for all types!

With an exotic history and a strong, enduring culture, Spain is one of the most intriguing countries in Europe. Landmarks like the Moorish and Royal monuments scattered across the Spanish countryside give you a glimpse of what this country once was: the most powerful force in Europe and the New World. As Europe’s third largest country, there is no shortage of things to see and do in Spain. Fortunately for cyclists, Spain’s climate is ideal for cycling almost year-round and there are plenty of landscapes to choose from. From Catalonia’s vibrant culture and cuisine to the rich history and architecture in Andalucía’s rolling hills, ExperiencePlus! delights in running Spanish tours from May to October as this long cycling season allows our travelers to comfortably explore much of Spain’s varied terrain through the year.

Bicycling Catalonia’s Costa Brava Plus! Barcelona

Begin your bicycle tour in the stunning city of Girona, one of the most fought after towns in all of Spanish history, and continue to travel along the Costa Brava and through the rolling hills of the Empordà region – dotted with Roman ruins and medieval towns. You’ll stop along the way and see hidden fishing villages and quiet walled towns coming back to life after the winter season. Take in the sights and sounds of spring as you pedal under the sun through nature reserves and ancient Roman spa towns before finishing in Barcelona, one of Europe’s most-loved cities.

Highlights: Barcelona, Garrotxa Volcanic Natural Area, Cadaques, Girona, Figueras and Dali Museum, Medieval Villages, Costa Brava Beaches, Vic, Extraordinary food – the town of Girona has more restaurants with Michelin stars than anywhere else in the world.

Cycling the Camino de Santiago – Roncesvalles to Santiago

“A pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela is the finest journey in Spain,” wrote James Michener in his book Iberia. Join our bicycle tour across northern Spain and you too will discover the magic of the Camino de Santiago. Though we use paved roads instead of the traditional dirt path, our tour follows the original guide for the Camino written by a monk in the 12th century – with a small detour into wine country. Along the way you’ll explore Gothic cathedrals, visit medieval monasteries, pedal through one of Spain’s premier wine growing regions – the Rioja – and encounter adventurous travelers from around the world. More than just a bicycle tour, this is an adventure of a lifetime.

Highlights: Follows the route of the Codex Calixtinus, 1000 years of history along the Camino de Santiago, Come home with a Pilgrim’s Passport, Guided tour of León, Option to hike one day, Burgos.

Grand Cycling Tour of Andalucia

Much of Andalucía’s colorful culture and stunning architecture springs from its history. For centuries this region in the south of Spain was the frontier between different faiths and cultures. This crossroads has left a treasure trove of vibrant monuments and historic footprints throughout the region including mosques transformed into churches; vast palace complexes; cuisine infused with dashes of North African spices; and a string of the iconic white towns stretching from Granada’s Albayzín to the riverside town of Cordoba. The list of reasons to cycle Andalucía is long, but here are a but a few that sit at the top of ours.

Highlights: Granada, Andalucian Villages, Guided tour of Córdoba, Úbeda, Seville, Alhambra, Guided tour of Jaen, Guided visit of Sinagoga del Agua, Pottery demonstration in Úbeda, Winery visit and tasting at Benalua de Guadix.
