Hotel in Brittany, France

Many of our travelers plan a bit of a cushion around their cycling adventure to have time to get over jetlag, discover new places or enjoy a bit of dolce vita before or after the tour. If this is you and you would like to extend your stay at your booked ExperiencePlus! tour’s starting or ending hotel, we’re here to help! This complimentary service is available for Classic, Bike & Boat and Expedition tours.

Gravel Explorers – scroll down for a full guide on how to make your own extra night reservations.

We’ll be more than happy to arrange extra nights at your tour starting and ending hotels for you so you have less work making arrangements, along with the convenience of keeping the same room for your entire stay. Refer to your tour packet for the full list of hotels. Don’t hesitate to reach out to us with your extra night request (Explorer tours excluded).

Some itineraries may have a note that says “Additional Hotel TBA”. This means that some departures may use a different hotel than, or in addition to, the one listed. We will announce your departure hotel as soon as possible. If you are booked on a Classic, Expedition or Bike and Boat tour, even when the hotel has not been confirmed, we will still be happy to collect your extra night requests, and book you in once it’s possible. As always, we recommend that you only make flexible arrangements if you book on your own.

If you’re booked on a Gravel Explorer tour, extra night reservations will need to be made at your end. If you see this remark and are uncertain, please reach out to us!

For some of our tours that start in more remote locations, we often designate a meeting hotel that we use as a gathering point to meet our complimentary ExperiencePlus! shuttle. We have have been able to arrange special rates with some meeting hotels, and would love to make your pre- or post-tour reservations there for you! Just reach out and check with us, and we’ll tell you all you need to know! (Gravel Explorer tours excluded.)

If you would like to expand your travels to other locations beyond your cycling tour, or simple see what else is out there, give our hotel recommendations a look! Find them listed under each country on our Travel Planning Pages.

For Gravel Explorer tour participants and hands-on planners, here are a few tips:

  1. Check the timing. If you are planning more or around 6 months prior to your tour, please contact us in case there are changes to the hotel listed.
  2. Find out which are your tour starting, meeting, ending or drop-off hotels. Refer to your tour packet. Read the arrival and departure information carefully as e.g. your group might meet at a meeting hotel and then transfer to the tour starting point together.
  3. Use the hotel’s booking platform or an online hotel booking site (e.g. recommend booking refundable/flexible rates.
  4. In the comment box on the booking form or a follow-up email, let the hotel know you are with the ExperiencePlus! group on X date. Avoid numeric date formats to prevent confusion (e.g. write June 3, not 6/3 as this could easily mean March 6 in Europe).
  5. Make sure you receive confirmation of your reservation.
  6. Let us know you’ve made your own reservation and we’ll be happy to reconfirm with the hotel that you’re with our group.
  7. Keep your reservation confirmation so you can access it while traveling.

If you need to cancel your hotel reservations, check if a penalty applies and make make sure you receive cancellation confirmation.

If you prefer to email the hotel instead of booking online, keep in mind that it will be more difficult to provide them securely with your credit card details.

Good to know!

Travel assistance, including booking extra hotel night arrangements through ExperiencePlus!, is included for Classic, Bike & Boat and Expedition tours. ExperiencePlus! does not receive commission for any pre- or post-tour booking that you make or that we make for you. ExperiencePlus! can only book hotels listed on your booked itinerary, and for your tour dates. Any other hotel arrangements need to be made by travelers. We cannot give rate predictions or provide comparisons. Some but not all hotel extend a potentially lower rate to our travelers online, but you may still find lower rates online. If you’re on a hunt for savings, then it may be best if you book your preferred rate on your own, keeping in mind that it may come with restrictions, including pre-payment, and moving rooms. We strongly recommend making refundable reservations only.

Please keep in mind that the hotels listed in our itineraries are our primary hotels and are – in rare cases – subject to change. If your tour departure is more than 6 months away, please check with us before making any bookings as there might be slight changes to the itinerary.
