Top-Selling Guided Cycling Tours in 2018

These tours are filling up fast!

Wondering where to go in 2018? Here’s a run down of our top-selling destinations to date in 2018. Take a look and if you see something that strikes your fancy book soon, we’re running out of space!

1. Bike Across Portugal Plus! the Coast

This is the second year in a row all of our Bike Across Portugal tours have filled up. Fast! It appears the secret is out and Spain’s often overlooked neighbor is finally getting some much deserved attention, and it is not hard to understand why. Great cycling weather, check. Excellent (and affordable) cuisine, check. Fantastic wine, check. Portugal offers beautiful cycling terrain with scenic vistas, colorful countrysides and lively cities. If you join us on our Bike Across Portugal Plus! the Coast tour you’ll explore the Alentejo and the Costa Vicentina. There are a few spaces available for tours this spring so join us and take in blooming wildflowers as you pedal among cork trees and vineyards en route to castles built centuries ago.

2. The Portuguese Camnio Plus! Santiago

In its inaugural year, our Cycling the Portuguese Camino sold out so fast we added an additional departure date. (This new departure begins July 24 and is also filling up fast so be sure to lock in your spot soon if you are eyeing it.) While cycling along the rivers, coasts and valleys of Northern Portugal you will explore the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Coimbra, Porto, Ponte de Lima and Santiago de Compostela, Spain. Additionally we will take the time to taste and savor the gastronomic specialties of the area and enjoy the changes that come with crossing a border as we cycle into Galicia, Spain. With 3 wine regions along our route and a blend of fresh seafood, hearty stews and modern day gourmet there is something for all tastes.

3. Bike and Barge: Amsterdam to Bruges Plus! Belgium’s Breweries

Also new in 2018, Bike and Barge tours! On this bike and barge tour you will discover the southern region of Zeeland in Holland, finally dipping into the West Flanders region of Belgium if you extend on the land-only “plus” portion. By day you’ll bicycle through regions known for their phenomenal sightseeing and cycling terrain. Your barge will cruise to new destinations as you experience and see first hand how the canal systems in this part of the world operate. On land you’ll cycle to iconic places including Gouda and the famous windmills of Kinderdijk, and on the river you’ll gain a perspective of stunning architecture as you enjoy a canal float. Our May and June departures are sold out but there is still a chance to join the fun July 27.

4. Cycling Copenhagen to Berlin

A Northern European tour extraordinaire, cycling from one vibrant city to another, both renowned for their urban cycling culture. Our Copenhagen to Berlin cycling tour is a proven winner. Spend four days in Denmark, pedaling across some of the country’s quintessential islands and along the Baltic Sea before traversing it to reach the “Continent.” Connecting some of the most important trading towns of the Hanseatic League which from 1400-1800 dominated the trade routes and economies of the Baltic countries. Our ride in Germany touches upon several important cities including Hamburg which considers itself a trendsetter for the rest of Germany (perhaps all of Europe), and Lübeck (home of the Hanseatic League), Potsdam, and finishes with an amazing cycling route into Berlin!

5. Bike Across Italy

Another top-selling tour – for the past 35 years! Start where it all began for ExperiencePlus! and explore Italy as it was meant to be seen – from the seat of a bike and from sea to sea. Still our most popular bicycling destination, we sometimes refer to Bike Across Italy as the ‘gateway’ tour because it hooks everyone! Imagine beginning your tour in the classic city of Venice, then cycling (and tasting) your way through some of Italy’s finest culinary regions: Emilia-Romagna & Tuscany. Biking Across Italy will lead you deep into parts of Italian culture seldom seen by tourists. The riding is not too rigorous, the food and wine is unforgettable, and the scenery will leave you dreaming of cycling for years to come.
