Cycling Italy’s Lakes District Plus!

Italy’s Lakes District has always been a transition zone between peninsular Italy and Alpine Europe. This series of lakes created by the melt-water of alpine glaciers enjoys a unique micro-climate that harbors olive and citrus groves, exotic botanic gardens, villas, and extraordinary vistas. Long an attraction for writers and artists, the Lake District provides an incomparable bicycle experience. You’ll cycle from Lago Maggiore to Lake Lugano in Switzerland onward to Lake Como, Lago d’Iseo with the finale on the shores of Lake Garda. Along the way you’ll have a guided tour of Bergamo Alta – one of our favorite cities in Italy! …enjoy a sampling of fine Franciacorta sparkling wine and learn more about its history from a local vintner.

Highlights: Lake Maggiore, Stresa, Lake Lugano, Lugano, Switzerland, Campione d’Italia, Lake Como, Madonna del Ghisallo Bicycle Museum, Four 2-night stays, Bergamo Alta – Guided tour, Monte Isola, Franciacorta sparkling wine tasting, Lake Garda

We’re thrilled to announce that our Croatia Bike and Boat Tour is returning in 2020. Join us as we discover Dalmatia’s spectacular limestone coastline by bicycle AND boat! Arrive early to explore Split, home of Diocletian’s 3rd century palace which is still inhabited by descendants of the Romans who settled this area.

We’ll board our traditional Mediterranean wooden sailboat – called a gullet –  in Split and head off on an aquatic adventure, sleeping, dining and relaxing on board the ship. Unpack your bags and settle into the magnificent sailing ship Tajna Mora meaning the “Secret of the Sea,” as it is your home for the next 7 nights. You’ll bicycle on three of the Mediterranean’s most picturesque and well-known islands: Brač, Hvar and Korčula. AND thanks to the Tajna Mora, you’ll also visit smaller, more out of the way islands like Vis and Solta. If you decide you want a break from the bike there will be ample opportunities to explore tiny fishing villages, swim in the sea, or try some stand-up paddle boarding right from the boat.
