Happy JulyExperiencePlus! US Staff at Bike to Work Day

June 25th was Bike To Work Day here in Fort Collins, CO and our staff co-hosted a breakfast station that fed over 100 riders – here we all are sporting our cycling jerseys!

July has arrived with a bang and the World Cup has me reminiscing about spending summers in Italy. Between the ages of 2 and 18, Monica and I used to spend each summer in Italy and for the month of July we stayed with our grandma at the beach while our parents were out leading bicycle tours. We would happily spend endless hours at our favorite bagno (beach) on the coast of Emilia Romagna.  Our sand castle building and swimming time could only be interrupted by one thing – the World Cup!  I have fond memories of crowding around the TV at the café/bar on the beach to watch Italy play (in those days the Italian national team usually continued into the next rounds!).  I love that the global love affair with soccer enables people from different countries to laugh and cry and cheer together.  As a multi-cultural family (and company) we often have divided team loyalties – perhaps it’s for the best that Italy is out because it makes it easier for us to focus on cheering for our other home team –GO TEAM USA – we can’t wait to be surprised!

In between watching soccer games we are busy this month planning our 2015 tours. The Chile and Argentina dates are all posted and on sale, and we are working hard to finalize all of our 2015 European dates by the end of the month! Stay tuned and email us if you’d like to be the first to know when we post dates for a particular destination.

This month’s feature articles are full of interesting stories: a trip report from Patagonia; tips on how to read a wine bottle; 3 new tour leader introductions; and a recipe for a simple pizza or flatbread dough!

Wherever you are, we hope you have a chance to get out and celebrate bikes (and soccer)!
