A variety of paved roads and dirt paths lead to sandy shores, soaring cliffs, whitewashed fishing villages, and a true taste of the warm Mediterranean culture.

Bike Across Italy – Venice to Pisa

This is it – the classic bicycle tour that we started with back in 1972! We begin in romantic Venice, make stops in the great art cities of Ferrara, Ravenna & Florence, and end on the Mediterranean coast in Pisa. Along the way, you’ll enjoy gourmet meals from two of Italy’s best culinary regions (Emilia-Romagna & Tuscany), take in local markets, and discover a side of Italy seldom seen by tourists. You’ll also visit “the farm” (it’s been in ExperiencePlus! co-founder Paola Malpezzi-Price’s family for more than 100 years) for a lunch and a close-up look at rural life in Italy. This has been our most popular cycling tour for over 40 years!

A few highlights to look forward to: Gourmet meals; Faenza and the Malpezzi family farm; 2 night stays in Florence and Lucca; Pisa and Tuscany’s countryside; Venice, Ravenna and Ferrara; Guided visit of UNESCO World Heritage Site Villa Badoer.

Bicycling Brittany and Normandy

France’s northwest coast – with its rocky cliffs and sandy beaches – is widely known for its pivotal role in WWII, but the region’s strong cultural identity and historic significance dates back to ancient Celtic roots. Just a couple hundred miles south of English Westcountry, Brittany and Normandy are geographically similar – though warmer, sunnier and less populated – compared with coastal England, and share a history of war, commerce, migration and cultural exchange that predates the Roman Empire.

A few highlights to look forward to: Cross a drawbridge and emerge from a dungeon, Port town of Cancale, Fort la Latte, Dinan – one of Brittany’s best-preserved Medieval towns, 13th-century Château de la Hunaudaye, traverse a bridge to the world’s most famous tidal island fortress, Mont-Saint-Michel.

Bicycling the Danube Plus! Czech Republic and Prague

Pedal on one of Europe’s most famous waterways past gently rolling countryside, lakes, and through tiny towns as you bicycle from Passau, Germany through Austria and the Czech Republic ending in Prague. Every day is an opportunity to explore the colorful towns and impressive historical sites including a stop in the town of Melk to visit the Benedictine Melk Abbey, perched on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Danube river. You’ll get a flavor for the local food and landscape while pedaling past vineyards (and stopping to taste some fantastic wine!), through forbidden forests along the Austrian/Czech border, and into late Renaissance towns unchanged since the 17th century. Gently rolling cycling, bicycle-friendly paths and roads in Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic make this region enormously popular for cyclists of all stripes.

Highlights: Cycling bike paths, Boat ride on the famous Danube river, Crossing three borders, Wine tastings, Historic abbeys and castles.
