Welcome to the February 2013 ExperiencePlus! Rambler

Welcome to the February Rambler. It’s just the second month of 2013 but so much ExperiencePlus! staff retreat Estes Park, Coloradohas happened this year we can barely imagine what the rest of the year holds!  One of the most exciting updates we’d like to share is Massimo (Max) Malpezzi return to part time work with us as Business Manager in Italy. Max managed and built up our office in Italy and led tours for many years before retiring to manage his family’s restaurant – not to mention he’s also Monica and Maria Elena’s cousin. We are equally thrilled to announce the promotion of John Giebler who has been one of our most popular tour leaders since the late 1990s. John is our new Director of Tours and will help ensure that your cycling vacation is top notch no matter where you go with ExperiencePlus!

This past month our Fort Collins office hosted all the staff from our Italian office. We enjoyed 10 days of work, play and planning.  During that time we even found time to host a fun get together with over 70 past and future ExperiencePlus! travelers who met to chat and mingle. January also marked Cristina Taioli’s arrival in the United States for her annual road tour. Cristina, an ExperiencePlus! ambassador and veteran tour leader, is meeting with past travelers, local cycling clubs, and travel enthusiasts to share stories and explain why she is in this crazy, wonderful business.  You’ll find Cristina in the Lake Tahoe area on February 9th and her final event is February 20th in Charleston, SC. Email us if you would like more details for either of these events.

Our 2013 season got off to a spectacular start with two fabulous adventure filled trips in Patagonia’s Lakes District.  Anyone looking for a surprise Valentines Gift? How about a surprise rip to pedal Patagonia’s Lakes District on the February 23rd departure?  Or, a lighter but equally captivating trip could be our tour through Chile’s Wine Country starting March 9th – what better way to finish out the winter than crossing the Andes by bike or sipping Chilean wines and walking on the beach!

Our newsletter this month is full of stories from our own staff as they reminisce and anticipate their own bicycle tours this summer and John Giebler shares some wonderful photo tips. We hope you enjoy it. We also have a short article on tours that are selling out fast, so if you have been planning a trip but haven’t told us about it, we highly recommend  that you send us a note.

Happy travels and cycling wherever you may be this month,
Maria Elena and Monica

Recipe: Sachertorte

Sachertorte somethign to look forward to tasting in Vienna with ExperiencePlus!

Many would argue that Sachertorte is THE dessert that represents Vienna. We agree, after all it is hard to go wrong when you combine chocolate, jam and whipped cream.

The effort is worth it so prepare yourself for a taste sensation and create your own Sachertorte.

Happy Cycling until next month!
