Happy New Year!

Snowshoeing in Colorado

For those of you in the United States, we hope you are staying warm while the so called “Polar” Vortex leaves the continent. Here in Colorado we are enjoying the occasional snow storm, cold mornings, and the mountains have plenty of snow so we can get out and enjoy winter activities – skiing, snowshoeing and drinking hot tea or hot chocolate! Of course, if you are itching to get out of the cold, we have a few spaces available on our warm weather cycling option in Patagonia’s Lakes District in Argentina and Chile that might suit you beginning February 22nd. The March 8th Chile Wine tours are already sold out so don’t delay.

January is the time we all take a moment to consider the past year so we put together our own “Best of 2013” roundup this month. However, we can’t help but also be excited to look towards the future – to warmer days and snow free roads. With that in mind we hope you’ll enjoy our recipe of the month which come to us from Sicily, as well as, an interview with Tour Leader extraordinaire, Tika Walde who chatted with Director of Tours, John Giebler about the hidden secrets of Argentina. And anyone who has ever been curious about riding a tandem will enjoy Sari Rosokoff’s article, Confessions of a Tandem Cyclist.

January is also the time when we’ll be hosting various events across the country. Folks in the Fort Collins, Colorado area be sure to mark January 30th on your calendars and join us for Happy Hour.  We’ll enjoy good company, food, and libations. It’s a great time to talk with ExperiencePlus! staff and your fellow travelers about their on tour experiences. If you can’t join us then give us a call – we’d love to help you narrow in on the trip of your dreams.

Wishing you the best for 2014,

Monica and Maria Elena

Confessions of a Tandem Cyclist by Sari Rosokoff

Sari and Jim Rosokoff along the Costa Brava in Catalonia, Spain

Most tandem teams tell a similar story: the two riders are of unequal ability, and, on single bikes, one rider slows down the other.  We borrowed a friend’s tandem for a test ride to see if we enjoyed it, and were hooked…

Confessions of a Tandem Cyclist begins here.
