Cycling Poland to Slovakia Plus! Hungary – IT’S BACK!

Gorgeous scenery and quaint towns await in SlovakiaHarold and Carolyn Martin have done over 20 ExperiencePlus! tours and this is what they had to say about their experience on the 13-day Poland to Slovakia Plus! Hungary ride:

This was one of the best tours offered by ExperiencePlus!. In Poland and Slovakia we enjoyed sweeping climbs with lovely down hills. This was great biking! The scenery in Slovakia was also outstanding. The forests and the meadows were beautiful, and the changing of the forest colors from green to fall colors added to the spectacular views. Then, cruising up and down the Danube, having dinner and enjoying the lighted night sights of Budapest was a super ending to a great tour!

Pedal from Poland through Slovakia and into Hungary’s Danube Basin as you follow an ancient trade route through the small towns, agricultural lands and the Tatra Range of the Carpathian Mountains that lie between two of Central Europe’s most fascinating cities, Krakow and Budapest. If you don’t have time for the full 13-days, check out the Cycling Poland to Slovakia tour which features the first 8-days of this itinerary.

Highlights include:
Perfectly preserved architectural examples from the 12th through 19th century
Pieniny National Park
Rural Goral culture
Historic mines and railroads
UNESCO World Heritage Sites

Bicycling Verdant Umbria Plus! Todi and Orvieto – A New 201 Rated Tour in Italy!

An ExperiencePlus! cyclist approaches the cathedral in Orvieto

Often referred to in literature as “the green heart of Italy,” Umbria showcases lush valleys and rolling mountains, crisscrossed by rivers and studded by quaint Medieval cities. Umbria is the only region in Italy with neither coastline nor international border, but nestled in its verdant countryside are some of the country’s most treasured olive groves and vineyards. Departing from Spoleto, you’ll pedal through picturesque small towns like Bevagna and Torgiano, and The Plus! tour takes cyclists even farther into essential Umbria, bicycling to the dramatic and historic hilltop cities of Todi and Orvieto.

Highlights Include:
Walking tours of Assisi and Perugia both major art hubs
Sample Rubesco and Sagrantino, two precious Umbrian red wines, as well as Italy’s famed Vin Santo, or “Holy Wine,” a beautifully sweet, amber-colored dessert wine
Short daily mileage encourages riders to take advantage of in-depth exploration of the region—both on and off the bike.

Bicycling Paris to Marseille – Ooh La La

ExperiencePlus! cyclists leave the Hotel de VilleExperience the fairytale landscapes of France’s beautiful forests and countryside on a journey from chic Paris to the exciting multicultural Mediterranean port city of Marseille. A route steeped in history, this tour takes cyclists through the Loire River valley with stops at Roman ruins and Renaissance châteaux—including the breathtaking Palace and Park of Fontainebleau. Much of our tour traces the route of Annie Londonderry, who in 1895 became the first woman to bicycle around the world solo—on her 42-pound Columbia bicycle! After a stop in beautiful Lyon, renowned for its authentic French cuisine and its perennial appearance as a stage city in the Tour de France™, we’ll continue through the famed Côte du Rhône wine region, cycle past (or to the top!) legendary Mont Ventoux, and wind through the pastoral Provençal region of southern France. There is also a 7-day itinerary option that ends in Lyon.

Highlights include:
Two of our favorite cities in France – Paris and Marseille
Châteaux de Fontainebleau
Côte du Rhône wine region
Annie Londonderry’s 1895 solo route
Ride through four regions of France
The opportunity to ride up Mont Ventoux
