Cycling the Coast of Sicily Plus! Ancient Mediterranean Cities:
What’s a better conclusion to a day of riding than pulling up to a farmhouse tucked in between grape vineyards and olive groves? At the Agriturismo Baglio Vecchio, you can sit back and soak in the Sicilian sunshine by the poolside, or enjoy the view of the farm from the patio. Wondering if you’ve got the place to yourself, you’ll smile when you find there are only 10 rooms here, and that dinner tonight features the produce harvested from the grounds that surround you. The wine made from the estate’s vineyard serves as an ideal accompaniment to their traditional Sicilian dishes. A post-ride, pre-dinner ping-pong tournament with fellow cyclists ensures that your appetite is up to tonight’s feast!
Best of Provence Plus! The Luberon and Aix-en-Provence:
The Lubéron is an area with three mountain ranges and several valleys full of vineyards, orchards, agricultural villages, and historical buildings in the middle of the south of France. Our hotel, Le Mas de Guilles, on the Provence Plus! tour just outside of Lourmarin, France allows you to take it all in. Settled on 7 acres of Provencal countryside, the windows of your well-lit and simply decorated room will more than adequately rejuvenate you for the last bike ride into Aix-en-Provence. Owners Michele and Patrick Lherm look forward to welcoming you as a friend when you come and stay in their 17th century farmhouse. They hope that you will leave with memories of wandering the gardens, losing track of time, and soaking in the peacefulness of the rural landscape.
The hotel U Sant’ Agnellu in the village of Rogliano on the tip of the Cap Corse story begins in 1865 when the building was built as a courthouse, later it became the post office, then a primary school, a library, a cinema, and finally the village’s town hall. Jean-Noel Alberini, current owner of the hotel, was born and raised in Rogliano. He went to school there and in 1982 he was married in the hotel which was at the time the town hall. The wedding took place in what are now rooms 8 and 9, explains Jean-Noel with a smile. Three months after his marriage the building was declared too dangerous and had to be evacuated and closed. Jean-Noel had the idea to put a restaurant on the ground floor of the building with just enough room for 6 tables, the restaurant was successful enough to inspire Jean-Noel to purchase and renovate the entire building in 1984.
Join us in Corsica and meet Jean-Noel and the rest of the Albertini family. Enjoy their warm hospitality and the view of the 16th century church of Sant’Agnello and the Mediterranean and its islands Pianotola and Capraia.
