Interview with Sonny Lange

Name:  Sonny Lange

Age (be as vague as you wish): Born December 1941 so that makes me pretty old.Sonny Lange

How many ExperiencePlus! trips have you done so far?   I have done nine trips, Puglia in southern Italy will be my tenth.

Which is your favorite trip?  It's a tie, the ride across Italy from Venice to Pisa or the Camino de Santiago were both favorites.  Because I enjoy Italy, I guess it would be the ride across Italy.  (Got to do that again).  Then of course the Dolomite ride with the 3 passes really rates up there.

Any funny/strange happenings on tour that you can share with the general public?  During the Tuscany Spring Training trip with Dave Gans and Stew Hiatt, Stewart's wife put us in charge of keeping track of him.  Somehow we lost him and had several tour members, and the guides looking for him.  We found him in a bar having coffee with several of the female tour members.  He claimed he wasn't lost.

You generally travel with a couple of friends and are known in the ExperiencePlus! world as the “Tres Amigos.” How did the three of  you come together?
During the Tuscany and Umbria tour one of the tour participants tagged us with the label "Tres Amigos" and it stuck.  Dave, Stewart and I served together for about 15 years in the Army Medical Corps, Stewart being a doctor commanded a couple of Army hospitals and Dave served as the logistics officer, I was Stewart's Chief of Staff.  "Tres Amigos" is better than three old Colonels.

Describe your dream trip.  Any of your Italian trips that follow the Giro.  It is on my "to do" list.

How many bikes do you currently own? Five, soon to be six (Tri bike, Road bike, Cross bike, Mountain bike, and a retired Italian racing bike)

Do any of them have names? No

Tell us something about yourself most people don’t know.  I really like doing short course Triathlons

If you have a day off…Do a ride bike ride in the morning, and chill in the afternoon.

What’s your favorite bicycle ride in Colorado?  I really like the Copper Triangle.  Copper Mountain to Leadville to Vail and back to Copper Mountain.

What’s the worst job you’ve ever had?  Serving as a Chairman for a Source Selection Evaluation Board doing Government contracting for Healthcare benefits.
