Bike TypesDepending on the tour you choose – and the terrain you’ll be traveling on --we offer a variety of types of bikes. Here’s a quick tour of our fleet. This is a road style bike with “drop” bars and 24 – 27 speeds. The large majority of our fleet in Europe consists of Cannondale bikes with aluminum frames that are handmade in the USA. | |
| Standard hybrid bikes have flat handlebars. Originally designed as a compromise that blended the efficiency of a road bike with the trail-worthiness of a mountain bike, hybrids have become a popular choice with riders who prefer a flat handlebar and a more upright position. | |
| Hybrid Mixte bikes (sometimes called “women’s bikes”) are hybrid bikes with a step-through frame for shorter people or for people who don't want to swing their leg over a standard frame's top tube. | |
| This is a mountain style bike with 24 – 27 speeds. Our Costa Rican fleet consists of Cannondale bikes with aluminum frames that are handmade in the USA. Soon we will be adding Orbea mountain bikes as well. | |
| We have a few Cannondale tandems available for tandem enthusiasts who travel with us in Europe. Be sure to book early and reserve a tandem if that is your preference. Availability is limited and proper fit is a bit more complicated, so we may not be able to accommodate everyone. But if you're curious about our tandems, please ask. If you’ve never ridden a tandem, a bike tour is NOT the place to start. Tandems require teamwork and good communication skills, and both of these take practice. Practice AT HOME before your tour, not on tour. | ![]() |
