Bike TypesDepending on the tour you choose – and the terrain you’ll be traveling on --we offer a variety of types of bikes. Here’s a quick tour of our fleet. This is a road style bike with “drop” handle bars, 30 speeds and 700 X 25cm tires. The large majority of our fleet in Europe consists of lightweight ( 56cm comes in at just over 18 pounds), responsive and comfortable Van Nicholas Titanium frame bikes. Bikes come with a combination of Ultegra and Shimano 105 components. |

Standard hybrid bikes have flat handlebars, 700 X 32 cm tires and 24 speeds. Originally designed as a compromise that blended the efficiency of a road bike with the trail-worthiness of a mountain bike, hybrids have become a popular choice with riders who prefer a flat handlebar and a more upright position. |

Hybrid Mixte bikes (sometimes called “women’s bikes”) are hybrid bikes with a step-through frame for shorter people or for people who don't want to swing their leg over a standard frame's top tube. 24 speeds and 700 X 32 cm tires. |

Our Costa Rican fleet consists of Cannondale mountain bikes with aluminum frames that are handmade in the USA for our Arenal Multisport trip. For our Coasting Costa Rica and Coasting Costa Rica Plus! Sabaneros and Beaches tour we recommend our lighter weight Orbea hybrid bikes.

We have a few Cannondale tandems available for tandem enthusiasts who travel with us in Europe. Be sure to book early and reserve a tandem if that is your preference.
Availability is limited and proper fit is a bit more complicated, so we may not be able to accommodate everyone. But if you're curious about our tandems, please ask. If you’ve never ridden a tandem, a bike tour is NOT the place to start. Tandems require teamwork and good communication skills, and both of these take practice. Practice AT HOME before your tour, not on tour. |
