Your Tour Leaders
Friends, coaches, story-tellers, and so much more . . .
Depending on the size of your group, two or three tour leaders will accompany you on tour. Our tour leaders are great storytellers and love to share their knowledge with you. Ask them why in Italy you don't drink cappuccino after 10 'clock. Or, what is the difference between a cloud forest and a rain forest? Either way, their main purpose on tour is to make sure everything runs smoothly, and that you get the most out of your vacation.
Each morning, one of them will head off early, usually by bicycle, to mark the route with chalk arrows. A second tour leader will drive the van with your luggage aboard. During the day, the van will be nearby to lend assistance if you need it. The van carries water and emergency snacks, just in case, although we recommend you don’t always depend on the van for snacks and water. We’ve found that stopping to get water at a local fountain, or stopping in a grocery store or specialty shop for a local delicacy, is a terrific way to search out that unique encounter that makes a “once in a lifetime” vacation.
Meanwhile, your third tour leader will ride with your group, normally sweeping (bringing up the rear) to make sure that if anyone has a flat tire or mechanical problem, they won’t be late for dinner!
Meet some of our bicycle tour leaders.
Our tour leaders are energetic, spirited people who love touring by bicycle – and introducing others to bike travel. All are natives of the country in which you are traveling, or they have lived there so long that even the locals have trouble distinguishing them. They are multi-lingual and entertaining individuals with a passion for sharing their love of the outdoors, people, culture and local food.
