Day 1: Tour begins in Alghero, Italy

Highlights: Seaside Alghero, Catalan & Gothic architecture
Arrive today at our hotel in Alghero on the northwest coast. You can get to Alghero by international air connections or by boat from Genoa to Porto Torres. We'll fit bicycles late morning and have a special welcome dinner tonight.

Day 2: Bicycle Alghero to Tresnuraghes

Highlights: Scenic coastal riding, beachfront hotel
We'll follow the coast south to Bosa this morning. Explore this fascinating town and enjoy lunch before riding the last five kilometers to our hotel on the beach. You'll have time for an extra ride this afternoon or you can choose to relax on the beach. Dinner on is together tonight. Distance: 40 km (25 miles).

Day 3: Bicycle to the beach of Putzu Idu

Highlights: Two-night stay at beach resort, basket makers
We go inland today where you can see a bit of the real Sardinia. (Since Roman times, the Sardinians have never really lived by the sea.) As we begin our bike ride, we'll pass through the villages of Flussio (famous for its home-made baskets) and Tinnura (famous for its murals) on our way to Cuglieri. From there it's a downhill to the beach, where we'll recommend lunch with a view along a small inlet. A few flat kilometers further bring us to our beachside resort near the pristine Putzu Idu beach, where a dip in the pool, or the crystal-clear sea, precedes dinner together tonight at the hotel. Distance: 67 km (42 miles).

Day 4: Rest day at the beach

Highlights: Optional ride to the Roman ruins of Tharros, explore hidden beaches and bays
Today is a day off the bikes for those who prefer to relax. Or we'll offer an optional ride to the Phoenician and Roman ruins of Tharros on the coast, where you can enjoy a relaxing swim at the beach. Those with an urge for exploration can spend the entire day cycling to all the little bays and beaches along this wild coast. Dinner is on your own today. Distance: your choice 0-50 km (0-31 miles).

Day 5: Bicycle to the interior of Sardinia

Highlights: Woolen rugs of Samugheo
You'll follow the Tirso River to Fordongianus this morning, then we'll climb to Allai and on to Samugheo, known for its white, woolen rugs. From there, we continue on to our hotel. Dinner on your own tonight. Distance: 85 km (53 miles).

Day 6: Bicycle to Su Gologone

Highlights: Coastal mountains of Sardinia, resort hotel with pool
We wind our way around the mountains of Gennargentu today - from Sorgono to Mamoiada, Orgosolo, and Oliena - before reaching our hotel in Su Gologone. Enjoy a dip in the hotel pool after a long day. Dinner together. Distance: 92 km (57 miles).

Day 7: Hike to Nuragic Village

Highlights: Visit to prehistoric Nuragic village, shepherds' barbecue
Leave your cycling shoes behind today as we enjoy a hike to some of the ruins and rock dwellings of the ancient Nuragic civilization that once inhabited this area. After our hike, we'll share a barbecue in the mountains with local shepherds. Dinner together this evening.

Day 8: Bicycle Su Gologone to Santa Maria

Highlights: Spectacular limestone mountains, rugs and olive oil of Dorgali
Hold on to your helmets! We go from 100 meters to 1,000 meters and then back down to sea level as we cycle through some of the most spectacular limestone mountains in the Mediterranean basin. You'll want to stop in Dorgali to see the rugs and taste the olive oil before continuing on to our hotel in Santa Maria Navarrese. Dinner on your own tonight. Distance: 78 km (48 miles).

Day 9: Bicycle Santa Maria to Costa Rei

Highlights: Visit to cheese factory, beachfront hotel
Today's ride is long, but with gently rolling terrain through Bari Sardo, Ierzu, and Villaputzu. We'll stop to visit a cheese factory near Bari Sardo before continuing on to Tertenia. We'll offer a shuttle for those who want to shorten the day so you can enjoy our beach hotel this afternoon. Dinner together. Distance: 93 km (58 miles).

Day 10: Bicycle Muravera to southern coast of sardinia

Highlights:
We cycle to the south coast of Sardinia near one of the most famous beaches in Cagliari. We recommend you take a trip down to Poetto beach for a stroll. Distance: 58 km (36 miles).

Day 11: Tour ends in Cagliari, Italy

Highlights:
After breakfast, we'll say goodbye. But if time allows, you should stay a few extra days in this Mediterranean paradise.
