This is the time of year when most reflect on the past 12 months and reminisce about where they’ve been. Although we have a bit of that in our December newsletter with staffer Julie Horton’s Tour Report on the Italian Lakes District trip, our focus quickly turned to our excitement for the future rather than looking back, so we’re highlighting of few of the possibilities we have planned for you in 2013. In fact, our first tour of the new year will begin in Argentina on January 5th, and we can’t think of a better way to begin the new year than in Patagonia’s Lakes District (last minute planners now is your chance) – the February 23rd departures only have 3 spaces left so time is running out in more than one way. Or maybe Chile’s Wine Country is beckoning in March?
Before we get too carried away with the future though we do want to recognize our tour leaders and staff for all their hard work in 2012. The rave reviews we’ve received by all of our travelers are directly a result of the effort our team puts forth every day, and Monica and I could not do this without their help.
As we plan for 2013 (and beyond) we are in fact bringing the entire team to Fort Collins, Colorado this January – and this means that all of you folks on the Front Range should save the date for January 7th, 2013 as we’ll be hosting a happy hour in town with special guest appearances by Monica, Michele, Igor, Bea, Jonathan, Stefania, Silvia and of course Monica’s daughter Lidia (and the U.S. staff!)
Finally, Cristina, our tour leader extraordinaire will be traveling throughout the U.S. meeting with folks and hosting some social hours – stay tuned as we’ll send out updates and invitations for those events in the coming months.
Wherever you may be as you celebrate the end of the year, we hope you are finding snow if you are on the ski slopes and sun and tail winds if you are cycling.
Monica and Maria Elena
It’s time once again for ExperiencePlus! staff in Italy and the USA to share their ideas for the perfect Christmas gift.
It all began with a fridge magnet. Staffer Julie Horton shares her pilgrimage story to visit the chapel of the Madonna del Ghisallo in Italy’s Lakes District. Read all about it here.
In July 2013 the Tour de France, and the rest of the world, will discover what ExperiencePlus! has known for years – that Corsica, the “Island of Beauty” as first described by the Greeks over 2500 years ago, is an amazing place to ride a bike.
Read more about Corsica and watch the video featuring the first three stages of the 2013 Tour de France.
The action takes place in the small Bavarian town of Schongau and its surrounding towns in the 17th Century. What is of particular interest to ExperiencePlus! riders is that Schongau, which still exists, is about midway between Landsberg am Lech and Füssen, right along the route taken by the ExperiencePlus! Bavaria’s Back Roads Tour.

Although this recipe is a loose interpretation of the age-old pain d’epices, we thought it would be a welcome change and something new to add to your holiday dessert repertoire.
Learn more about the history of pain d’epices (spiced bread) and try our fabulous recipe for Apple Spice Cake.
