The ExperiencePlus! 2013 European Cycling Calendar has plenty of options.
2013 is going to be stellar for cycling in Europe as ExperiencePlus! has all of our classic itineraries and some exciting new options — Catalonia in northern Spain & a border-hopping tour through Austria, Slovenia and Italy. We are also heading back to one of our favorite places to ride, Ireland.
For those of you who prefer 501-rated ExpeditionPlus! tours we’re returning to St Petersburg for the St Petersburg to Istanbul ride, and we have a new offering that follows the classic Euro Velo 6 route from the coast of France to the Black Sea coast of Romania.
Culture Clash: Bicycling Colorful Catalonia
Spain’s Costa Brava harbors an eclectic mix of culture and history—it even has its own language (Catalan). We’ll pedal from prized Girona (25 times besieged) and its pristine Jewish quarter, through Roman spa towns and a volcanic nature preserve, to beautiful Figueras, birthplace of Salvador Dalí. The 12-day Plus! tour culminates in a 7-mile ride along a bike path into the heart of the Catalan capital: Barcelona.
Pedal Easy in Alpine Europe: Lakes of Austria, Italy and Slovenia
Sound too good to be true? It’s not! Join us to meander along glacial streams and stunning karst scenery, including unforgettable Lake Bled. Tucked into an area the size of New Jersey, Slovenia’s rich landscape includes gothic villages, baroque churches, medieval castles, rugged peaks and Mediterranean beaches. The longer Plus! tour has three 2-night stays and adds Ljubljana, one of Europe’s smallest and most elegant capitals. The 8-day tour features two 2-night stays and ends in one of the prettiest places on the planet, Lake Bled.
Europe’s “Outback”: Western Ireland
Looking for a cool place to ride this summer our new and improved 8 and 11-day tours through western Ireland are as authentic as the countryside’s friendly locals, centuries-old pubs, and traditional music. Our route traverses Connemara and the Aran Islands—one of the few regions where the Irish language is still spoken—and celebrates a rural legacy best enjoyed by bike.
ExpeditionPlus! EuroVelo 6 from the Atlantic to the Black Sea
The EuroVelo 6 route follows the longest river in France, the Loire, from its mouth near Nantes, through the heart of France. The route then follows the Saone-Rhone River corridor north, around the Jura Mountains to Basel, Switzerland and on to pick up the famous Danube Bicycle Route all the way to Vienna and on through Slovakia, Hungary, Serbia, and Romania. Join us June 14 – July 28, 2013 for 45 days, 10 countries, 2500+ miles.
