The Perfect Tour

Discover the best way to travel – by bicycle!

At ExperiencePlus!, we believe that the best way to experience the world is by bicycle – whether you’re a novice cyclist or one who’s been riding hard and fast for years.  We call it "slow travel.”

On a bicycle you have time to absorb all the details along the way, because they're not whizzing by. Our unique route marking system allows you to set your own pace.  You decide when to stop and what to photograph.  You choose when to linger and chat with the local residents.  Pull over for a while at a local café for a 10 o’clock café au lait.  Or a 2 o’clock gelato.  Or a 5 o’clock Irish stout!  Sit back and enjoy the view.

Over the course of a bike tour, you'll cover a significant distance, but not because we're pushing for long rides every day.  Virtually all of our customers tell us that our rides are challenging but not excessive.  On many of our tours, we include one or more two-night stays, which gives you a chance to rest your legs and explore on your own. On the other hand, if you’re looking for extra mileage, you can find it on almost every tour. This allows long-distance cyclists to travel happily with their more laid-back companions.
In a car you're always in a compartment, and because you're used to it you don't realize that through that car window everything you see is just more TV. You're a passive observer and it is all moving by you boringly in a frame.

Of course, a little guidance is always welcome

Our philosophy is to provide everything you’ll need to have a memorable experience in another culture – then step aside and let you experience it on your own!

Great routes

Our tours are thoughtfully designed by people who are intimately familiar with the region you’ll be visiting.  We hand-pick routes that sidetrack into small towns and lead you to places of cultural and historical interest.  We always prefer the quiet, winding roads that locals use – for a peaceful ride and a more authentic view of the cultural landscape.

Superb tour leaders

Our tour leaders are bilingual, bicultural experts and avid cyclists.  Are you wondering how to order espresso in a café?   How to strike up a conversation with a shop owner?  How to shift gears to make the hills easier?  With a little help from your tour leaders, you’ll be prepared to navigate confidently on and off the road.

Ah, the cuisine and the accommodations!

Whether you’re about to sample a local brie and Bordeaux in St. Emilion or a seafood risotto in Venice, every meal on tour is a personal introduction to your host country.  Every meal is an opportunity to taste and experiment – and to laugh with new friends by your side.  We select restaurants and cafés that are authentic, welcoming, and off the beaten track.

Our standards are similar for the hotels we choose.  We'd rather stay in a comfortable, three-star hotel in the historic center of town than in an isolated luxury chain where your only local contact is the bartender.
