Rick Lankford
Rick hails from Atlanta, Georgia. He studied Finance at the University of Georgia and also had a quick stint studying International Business in Verona, Italy. While studying in Verona and doing a few months of backpacking around Europe via train...he fell in love with Europe and the way of life there. After finishing university and making his way in the real world, which included working/traveling all over the U.S. as well as exploring Latin America in 3 different 6 month trips, he eventually decided to follow his heart and move to Europe. The original plan was to move to Spain and live a year or two in Granada before heading off to explore another part of Europe. However, after 4 years in Granada he still has no intention of leaving his "new" home. Of course the lure of travel to exotic lands by bike, train, or hitchhiking still keep him out of Granada a good part of every year.
Rick started his guiding career right out of college, not realizing that he was beginning what would be his career. A three month summer job after college to delay getting "a real job," turned into a passion and way of life. He has worked as a Wilderness Guide in the mountains of Virginia, led summer service learning adventures in Costa Rica and Argentina, guided college study abroad students around Morocco for an NGO facilitating cultural exchanges, led countless educational bus tours around Spain with middle and high school students, and worked as a hiking guide on the Camino de Santiago. Currently he is thrilled to be working for ExperiencePlus! Bicycle Tours where he can combine his passion for education, cultural exchange, travel, bicycles, Spain, and of course - great food and wine!
"Rick was terrific, flexible, thoughtful, and diligent!"
“I really appreciated his sincere, kind, and thorough attention to all the details that made our tour seem smooth and enjoyable. Rick was patient, and fun to be with, and very capable of looking forward to see that we were well tended to, during our rides, our restaurant meals together, and our cultural visits, to name a few.”
"Rick's ability to be knowledgeable, personable, and accommodating to guests was wonderful; couldn't have asked for better!"
