Dermot Blount

Dermot Blount was born December 13th, 1958 in Waterford, Ireland. He has been a resident of the seaside town of Tramore for the past 25 years. He and his wife, Jane, have three children: Tom (7), Maire (11), and Dara (13). He loves sports, especially sea kayaking, cycling, swimming, sailing, mountain trekking, and spear fishing. In 1990, he circumnavigated the coast of Ireland by sea kayak (1,000 miles) unaided by land or sea support. He tried to get around Iceland in 1994 but made it only two-thirds of the way around the coastline. He loves cycling and generally rides at least 120 miles a week, all year round. He loves to travel when he can and his past cycling trips include Scotland, Wales, southwest England, France, and Spain. Dermot has been leading ExperiencePlus! Ireland tours since 2002, while his “real job” is as a graphic artist in the local newspaper in Waterford.
